Are you interested in becoming a member of POYC ?
Community, Friendship, Volunteerism and Effort make for a greater boating experience.
The Port Orchard Yacht Club is about sharing a common interest in boating and water activities. It much more fun and interesting when you have friends to share your experiences, ask questions to, and share knowledge of boats, waters, techniques, safety, gear, electronics and so on.
POYC offers a beautiful clubhouse and extensive marina with a mix of open, common cover and boathouse slips. POYC has a great history and great future, all in part to how much care and effort members put back into the club.
POYC offers many different events and cruises that the membership can enjoy. We host cruises, races, parties, breakfasts, pot luck and themed dinners.
Join the fun and experiences at Port Orchard Yacht Club.
Active Membership is for those who own a boat.
Associate Membership is for those who don’t own a boat.
Must be 21 years of age and of good moral character.
Must be sponsored by a current member. (Contact the Membership Chairman if you don’t know a member at this time.)
The one-time initiation fee is $3,250 if you live in Kitsap County, Mason County, or Pierce County on the Gig Harbor side of the Narrows Bridge. Outside this area but in the state of Washington is $6,500. Outside Washington is $9,750.
Quarterly dues are $110. There is an assessment of $110 per quarter for a moored member or $42 for a non-moored member. This assessment is to retire some debt we have due to repairs/upgrading.
There are four types of moorage at the club.
1) Side tie (finger pier) is $2.53 per foot per quarter. As an example I have a 45 foot side tie and my moorage cost is $113.85 per quarter. I have a 38 foot boat but I pay for the slip size not the boat.
2) Boat House slips are billed at $ .12 per sq. foot per quarter.
3) Common Cover slips are billed at $464 per quarter.
4) Condo slips are billed at $.52 per sq. foot per quarter.
Electricity is paid per KWH used (current rates are $0.08/KWH). Moored members pay a $12 per quarter electricity surcharge and a $29 per quarter Piling Fund and DNR lease charge.
For maintenance and recreational support, we are a 100% volunteer club. You must work 8 to 16 hours per year or pay $50 per hour for the hours not worked. If you are moored at the club the requirement is 16 hours a year, 8 hours are required if you are not moored.
Moorage is assigned by seniority. Depending on your boat, you can expect to qualify for moorage in about 12 months or less. You can sublet an available space and earn additional seniority credits. There are commercial marinas in the area where you could keep your boat while waiting for club moorage.
We have many club-sponsored events on and off the water. Participation is encouraged, always enjoyable but not mandatory.
Social events range from weekend excursions to races to crab and steak feeds to formal and informal parties.
As a member of POYC you will be eligible for reciprocal moorage at most yacht clubs in Puget Sound and British Columbia.
