POYC Power Boat Regatta Report April 28th, 2026

Predicted Log Rallies are hosted by different yacht clubs around the Puget Sound between January and October each year. This is a contest like a road rally. Contestants are given a course to run. This course is normally around 14 – 18 miles in length. Skippers are to determine how long it will take to run this course. On the day of the contest the skippers run the course without the use of time. Scoring is the average of error between what a skipper predicted and the actual time it took to run the course.

Like any other sport, the pleasure comes from the competition and the meeting of other likeminded skippers with their vessels on the water. The rules are structured to include a navigator whom usually is a spouse or partner.

The next contest will be held in deep water starting at Eagle Harbor on Bainbridge Island on May 16th. This is a contest that has two events in one course. Want to have some fun? Join us in a little competition around Blake Island and have dinner at the Queen City YC Out Station afterwards. See Jim or I for details.
